Book Review "The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari": A book with the essence of ancient Indian values

"India!" Many people (especially in the West) consider India as an uncivilized country. They think so because of poverty and other social problems of India. But ancient India had something proud worthy of in the field of spirituality. "The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari" is a self-help book by Robin Sharma. The book is mainly a conversation between two characters Julian and John. Julian was a famous lawyer who, after a heart attack in a jam-packed courtroom, sold all of his possessions and started a journey to find the meaning of life. In India, he met several people and finally he went to a place atop the Himalayan where a group of sages lived. Julian had become a student of the sages and learned the ancient art of well living. Following his teacher's instructions, he came back to the West and began to spread the learning outcomes. At first, he met John, his sometime junior lawyer and friend, and spoke to him about the ancient Indian values about life. The ...

Book review "Who Moved My Cheese?": A book about change

The result of the  SSC examination in Bangladesh is published today. The result will play a significant role in the educational life of the examinees. It may change the track of their lives. And " Who Moved My Cheese? " is a book talking about change and how to get adapted to it. The author, Dr Spencer Johnson, wrote some best-selling books. " Who Moved My Cheese? " is one of them. The book is sold over 12 million copies worldwide ( printed on the back of the book). The Daily Telegraph has said, "One of the most successful business books ever". The book is also praised by some business personnel. So I decided to give it a read. The book is divided into three parts. In the first part, in a reunion of school mates, Michael (not Corleone) tells a story named " Who Moved My Cheese? " and says that it has changed his outlook about 'Change'. In the next part, the story revolves around two mice and two little people of different charac...

Book review "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck": Motivates you in the reverse way

Finally, I finished reading " The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck ". It the first English non-fiction book I started reading and I wrote my first book review about this one in February ( obviously I didn't finish reading the first chapter at that time, but I didn't give a f*ck and wrote a superficial review). The writer, Mark Manson, started blogging about relationships. Gradually, he started to write about making our lives happier. In the book, Mark tried to teach us to stay away from the rat race of giving more f*cks about everything in the era of consumerism. Mark started the book with the story of Charles Bukowski who hadn't given a f*ck about becoming a humble person despite achieving success. Mark talked about the process of generating happiness by solving our problems. He also wrote about maintaining our mental health. I enjoyed the style in which he wrote about many serious issues of our lives. To make us understand some serious subjects, Mark u...

Book review "Eat That Frog": A guide to overcome procrastination and become more productive

Today is a day of joy for me. I finished reading the first English non-fiction book in my life. Sadly, it took almost half a month to finish reading this little book of 123 pages. The reason for this delay is nothing but my poor time management. In the book, Brian Tracy explains 21 ways to prevent procrastination and become more efficient. Tracy calls himself an " eclectic reader " and the book justifies his words. He assembled his personal experiences and learnings in one place. There will never be enough time for doing all of your tasks. Therefore, Tracy insisted that the most important work must be done at first and that's your frog. The 80/20 rule and ABCDE method will help you to find your frog. The book is full of practical tips and tricks to plan, action and achieve success. The book may help you to become more effective in work. Back to my story. Before reading the book, I have no idea that " Proper prior planning prevents procrastination ". I...
